Switching thesis with antithesis

Just came out of a pretty productive class.

In this past few months I've been looking for ways of technology to substitute the feeling of loneliness... Temporarily. I've done a great deal of research of the products out there and bet there a lot more that I haven't come across yet.

But with the Boyfriend's Arm Pillow, I came to a point where I realized that, some things can not be replaced. The Virtual Girlfriend in Korea (is basically a program on a cellphone, where the character dances and jumps and throws kisses) is another project that creeps me out about the relationship between technology and emotional relationships.

It's nice to have robopets keeping the elderly company and have some therapeutic effects, but what about people of my age? Aren't they supposed to go out and experience relations with other people? How come technology is thought to be substituted with human emotions?

In this sense, Noam Toran's project of Accessories for the Lonely Men is questioning the psychology of emerging technology and in a way criticize these technologies in everyday life. It's nice to have temporary relief but what about long term effects? Can it be healthy?
